HORSEBACK TREK SHAMSHY – SON KOL
Horseback trek with our professional grooms and guides. You will ride through mountains and rivers, crossing several passes over 3,000 m.
DAY 1:
BISHKEK – FOOT OF THE SHAMSHY PASS
Early morning departure from Bishkek. Two and a half hours’ drive to reach the meeting point with the groom (who will take care of the pack horses) not far from the village of Shamshy. Then we begin the approximately four-hour horseback trek to reach the foot of the Shamshy Pass.

DAY 2:
FOOT OF THE SHAMSHY PASS – SARALA SAZ
We cross the Shamshy Pass (3,570 m) and descend into the Sarala-Saz valley, which means “yellow marsh” because it is a somewhat dry place and even in summer there is not much greenery.

DAY 3:
SARALA SAZ – KARAKOL RIVER
5 hours on horseback across alpine pastures. At the end of the day, there is a long descent to the Karakol River.

DAY 4:
KARAKOL RIVER – SOOK VALLEY
We cross the Buchuk Pass (3,400 m) and descend into the Sook Valley. It is a beautiful day with encounters with local nomads, yurts, herds, etc.

DAY 5:
SOOK VALLEY – KOLDUU SUU
Today’s pass is called Saryk (3,580 m). The climb is not too difficult, but the descent is quite long. We spend the night in the Kolduu-Suu valley.

DAY 6:
KOLDUU SUU – KILEMCHE
We cross the road for cars and continue the trek towards Kilemche. We have to cross the Chaar-Archa pass. It is a fairly easy pass. At the end of today’s trek, we descend into the Kilemche valley. It is a place with many yurts for tourists.

DAY 7:
KILEMCHE – SON-KOL LAKE (JAMAN ECHKI)
We cross the Jalgyz Karagay Pass (3,400 m), from where we can see the beautiful Son-Kol Lake. Descent to the place called Jaman-Echki.

DAY 8:
JAMAN ECHKI – TULPAR TASH
A very easy and pleasant day. Still walking along the lake, in the afternoon we arrive at a place called Tulpar-Tash.

TULPAR TASH – BISHKEK
Drive to Bishkek.
More than 4 hours’ drive to reach Bishkek.
