3-DAY HORSEBACK TREK TO SON-KOL LAKE
Lake Son-Kol is one of Kyrgyzstan’s must-see sites. All travellers who visit our country dream of discovering this magnificent lake. It is possible to get there by car, on foot or on horseback. We invite you to discover it on horseback, accompanied by our local grooms.
DAY 1:
KYZART – KILEMCHE
You must travel to the village of Kyzart. Many travellers arrive from Kochkor, but it is also possible to come directly from Bishkek. The trek begins in the afternoon. You will have lunch with a local family in Kyzart, then meet your guide-groom and your horses. Kyrgyz horses are renowned for their docility and are well accustomed to tourists.
After about 4 hours of horse riding, you will reach the Kilemche mountain pasture.
Dinner and overnight stay in a yurt.

DAY 2:
KILEMCHE – SON-KOL LAKE
In the morning, after breakfast, you continue the trek by climbing to the Jalgyz-Karagay Pass (3,300 m), before descending to Lake Son-Kol.
Lunch in a yurt.
In the afternoon, you will set off again on horseback and reach the site of Tuz Ashu. Approximately 4 to 5 hours of trekking.
Dinner and overnight stay in a yurt.

DAY 3:
LAKE SON KOL – KYZART
On the last day, you will cross another pass before descending to the village of Kyzart (4 to 5 hours of trekking). Upon arrival, you will have lunch with a local family. After the meal, a taxi can be arranged to Kochkor, Bishkek or another destination.
